Karen Williams

Hi I'm Karen, a figure athlete, mum of two and lover of all things fitness. I have many passions; my family, food and luckily exercise to name but a few.

 

OnetoOne is my second home, I spend a lot of my time here (an awful lot!) but not just because I'm a gym freak but because I love the gym, the people and everything it represents. Here I'm surrounded by like minded people, where health and fitness isn't just a job but a way of life.

 

When I started training at one to one gym back in 2010, I instantly fell in love with the homely environment and personal nature of the gym. Here you're not just a number, whatever your goals there's someone here willing and ready to help you on your journey.

 

I was encouraged to pursue and develop my physique in order to compete in the NABBA Wales competition, in which I placed 4th in my very first competition. I couldn't have achieved this without the help, support and knowledge of the one to one team. Through further training and support I am yet again in training for my 2nd NABBA show, of which I'm proud to represent one to one gym, and in return hope to do them proud standing on that stage..

I met Marvyn at the end of January 2013. At that time I was 13 ½ stone and totally miserable with myself. My fortieth birthday was looming and I was ready to make positive changes. Marvyn introduced me to Paleo Nutrition and High Intensity Interval Training. The sessions were tough, but each week I could feel my fitness levels improving. In the first 4 weeks I lost 1 stone! As my fitness increased, Marvyn encouraged me to include spinning classes into my gym sessions. I was reluctant at first, but now I love spinning and go at least 3 times a week. In 11 months I have lost a total of 3 stone and feel healthier than ever. Marvyn is a great personal trainer and I would highly recommend him to help you reach your health and fitness goals.

Throughout my time with Marvyn, he has inspired, motivated and most of all gained confidence. I have lost weight and gained fitness in the process. His in-depth knowledge and motivational skills enabled me to dream big – ‘anything is possible’.To date I have lost 30 lbs and will continue to lose with the help of Marvyn and the Paleo lifestyle. It totally works, I have been on many diets over the years but have struggled to maintain it, but feel that this is easy.I have never experienced such sheer passion and patience by Marvyn to help you get to your dreams and goals. I truly believe he can make a real difference to anybody’s life.

In December 2012, I was a chubby monkey! I went on holiday with the girls and this photo was a real eye opener for me! I decided the time was right to sort myself out.

I started running and dropped weight quite quickly, however I wasn’t toned and I had no muscle mass. I started weight training with Si (BodyBySi) in August 2013 and quickly noticed a huge alteration in my shape.

I had muscles!

I also do explosive training with Marvyn, to help improve my fitness levels. I am now training for the Cardiff half in October!

The gym quickly became a huge part of my life, to the extent I now work at One to One and am helping others achieve their fitness goals.

I have huge admiration for Kinga and how she trains, and I am now focusing on entering my first bodybuilding competition in December 2014.

I could not have achieved these results without the constant support of the whole team at One to One!

In April 2012 I was fed up and depressed, looking in the mirror made me cry!

I started training with Nicky May just once a week doing a combination of exercise, and after just 20 minutes I was done! I kept at it and by June 2012, I was doing Boxfit and Strength and Conditioning classes, working out 3 times a week. My fitness was vastly improving and I was dropping weight.

I went and saw Nicky in a weight lifting competition and there and then I decided that was what I wanted to do! I now train 5/6 times a week .

In a year and a half, I have dropped 3 ½ stone and lost 63 inches and feel fantastic!

I love working out so much that I am currently sitting my Fitness Instructor exams!

I could never of achieved this without the full support of Nicky, he helped me both physically and nutritionally and he gives me the kick up the backside I need!!

I love OnetoOne gym, I go to the morning classes at 6.15am every day and find them tough but exhilarating! I can’t express how much the gym has helped alter my life!

With my 62nd birthday approaching in the summer of 2013 I decided it was time to do something about my fitness, health and expanding waistline.

 

My youngest son advised me to join the gym (One to One) and have personal training sessions with Marvyn. In the past I was a yo yo dieter, my weight fluctuated and I often felt really lethargic. I found that within a very short time following Marvyn's advice on Paleo nutrition and his training my energy levels soared. From never enjoying exercise on a regular basis I am now completely addicted. I go to 2 - 3 spinning classes a week, personal training sessions and small group training. Instead of feeling tired afterwards I get a big buzz of 'get up and go.' I have lost weight, changed shape, am a lot more toned and feel great. I was concerned when I first joined that I might have been too slow or too old but I know now that you are never too old to start exercising and the difference to health is amazing. Marvyn gave me this confidence through his patience, humour and encouragement,

I highly recommend him as a trainer for all ages.
